TARS (Tethered Aerostat Radar System)  is being developed under the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) initiative of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The programme supports indigenous development of cutting-edge defense technologies in alignment with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Engineered for rapid deployment, persistent coverage, and detection of low, and small aerial threats in tactical field environments.

About the programe

IDEX ADITI 2.0

Aditi 2.0 is the Ministry of Defense’s flagship deep-tech innovation grant program under IDEX (Innovation for Defense Excellence) – Supporting Indian startups in developing critical and dual use technologies for the armed forces with grants upto 25cr per project. TARS addresses one of the key technology gaps identified in ADITI 2.0 priority list: Persistent elevated surveillance and radar systems for border management and border situational awareness for Indian Air Forces.
